Eskil started flying model aeroplanes when he was twelve, and his aviation interest has only expanded since then. After a year as a Recon soldier in the Army, he pursued his dream and started pilot training with the Royal Norwegian Air Force in 1992.
He got his wings in 1996 at Sheppard AFB, and went on to fly the F-16 for the RNoAF. After tours in Norway at 338 Sqn at Orland and 332 Sqn at Bodoe, he was an exchange pilot with the RAF, flying the F-3 with XI(F) Sqn at RAF Leeming. Following the exchange tour he went to Bodoe as a Flight Cmdr on 331 Sqn. Eskil has completed deployments in Kosovo, Afghanistan and the Falklands.
In 2007, Eskil’s long time dream of being a Testpilot came true and he started the USN Test Pilot School at Patuxent River NAS. During the service as a testpilot he was the F-16 solo display pilot for the RNoAF in 2012, celebrating the Centennial anniversary of flight in Norway. He is currently the lead fast-jet pilot in the RNoAF with responsibility for the F-16 and F-35.
His spare time is carefully balanced between flying and instructing on warbirds of many kinds, and his UK wife with their three children.
